On May 27, reporters visited the construction site of the Hebei Tianhuan Modern Commercial and Intelligent Logistics Plaza project in Daliuhe Town, Wen'an County, witnessing the style of a top 100 cold chain logistics company in China. After more than a year of construction, the project has grown from nothing, attracting more and more businesses, with logistics vehicles coming and going, and the transaction center bustling with people.
“After a year and a half of intensive construction, the outdoor engineering, decoration, and equipment installation of Phase 1, including the No. 1 and No. 2 cold storage facilities, the transaction center, and auxiliary buildings, have been completed, and it officially started operation at the end of March. After the completion of Phase 1 in September this year, the annual transaction volume will exceed 40 billion yuan, and after the completion of Phase 2, the overall annual transaction volume will reach 60 billion yuan. The annual output value can reach 1.46 billion yuan, the annual tax revenue 198 million yuan, and it will create more than 15,000 jobs.” Chen Jinhang, chairman and general manager of Hebei Tianhuan Cold Chain Logistics Co., Ltd., introduced that the project has a total investment of 4.9 billion yuan, covers an area of 546 mu, and mainly constructs a modern frozen food trading plaza, cold storage and intelligent logistics warehousing facilities, a central kitchen, a colorful market, and an e-commerce platform. After completion, the project will become the largest cold chain logistics supply base in China.
Unloading, loading, warehousing... Workers are busy in an orderly manner. As a continuing project among provincial key projects, Hebei Tianhuan, through the construction of cold storage and warehousing centers, gathers frozen products from surrounding areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and even North China to Langfang, making it the largest procurement center, cold chain logistics distribution center, operation center, settlement center, and data center for frozen products in China, to meet the needs of modern fast-paced life for food safety and standardized production.
In recent years, Wen'an County has actively seized the opportunities of the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and in accordance with the requirements for building a “major national modern commercial and logistics base”, it has used projects as a lever to comprehensively build a modern commercial and logistics network that connects the world, faces the country, serves Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, drives the surrounding areas, and develops itself, striving to build a major national modern commercial and logistics base. The Hebei Tianhuan Modern Commercial and Intelligent Logistics Plaza project is invested and constructed by Nanjing Tianhuan (Food) Group Co., Ltd., which is a top 50 agricultural product cold chain wholesale market enterprise and a top 100 cold chain logistics enterprise in China.
The project has a high land utilization rate, with a total construction area of about 820,000 square meters and a plot ratio of 2.25. The Phase 1 project under construction covers an area of 203 mu and mainly constructs a logistics distribution center, three multi-story cold storage facilities and auxiliary buildings, with a plot ratio of 2.67, which is unparalleled in domestic cold chain logistics warehousing facilities. The project construction is fast. Phase 1 started construction at the end of May 2019, debugged equipment and trial operation in December 2020, and officially put into operation at the end of March 2021. Through the integration of informatization, the Internet of Things, and electromechanical integration to achieve intelligent logistics, it will form an annual transaction volume of 2 million tons of various cold chain foods, a cold storage capacity of 900,000 tons, and an annual intelligent delivery of 800,000 tons of various cold chain foods. Relying on the advantages of its proximity to Tianjin Port and Caofeidian Port, the project imports beef products, pork and poultry by-products from the United States, pork by-products from Europe, sheep by-products from Australia and New Zealand, pork, beef, mutton, poultry by-products from Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay in South America, and seafood products from Canada and Southeast Asia (Vietnam), etc. The annual import and export volume is expected to reach 4 billion yuan, and will increase to 20 billion yuan two years after the official operation of the project.
“We will build the largest cold chain logistics supply base in China with strong comprehensive service capabilities and core competitiveness. We have reached strategic cooperation with hundreds of large national food processing enterprises and food brand agents, such as Shuanghui, Jinluo, New Hope Liuhe, Longda, Shengnong, Wanchai Ferry, and Haiwang, and attracted them to settle in, with more than 2,000 businesses.” Chen Jinhang said that the “central kitchen” in the project will be a key investment and technological transformation direction. Its business model includes: agricultural products or food processing plants + chain stores + community online stores + retailers. After commissioning, it will form a new business model of “centralized procurement—standardized production—food safety inspection—unified packaging—frozen storage—unified distribution—big data analysis”, and it is expected to process 300,000 tons annually.
